FOR FUTURE ENGINEERING RISKS

THE PROGRAMME

Work packages have been identified to provide structure to project. Each area is managed by the researcher leading the work.

ABOUT

Scientific Assurance for Future Engineering Risks (SAFER) is a group dedicated to the development of a microstructural Digital Twin for assuring the safety of high integrity components. Our work is in support of Dr Daniel Cogswell’s UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship.
Our aims are to collate information on the safe use of materials in high integrity applications, communicate this clearly through digital tools, and provide guidance to both industry and academia. We hope to set out the pathway for an effective transfer of academic developments in multiscale materials modelling into industry with the use of worked examples.

This work was supported by a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship [grant number MR/T02058X/1].

Animation

In high integrity applications, intelligent materials selection is vital. Failure to do so can have catastrophic effects, but if done well, we all benefit from enabling new technologies.
